TUE: Every Word Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection. Proverbs 30:5 They say that the only thing permanent in this world is change. If that's the case, then there are absolutely no absolutes. But then, we don't really believe that, do we? There has to be something that's sure and true and permanent. In a world where change is the name of the game, when last year's model can be replaced by something newer and more apt for the times, there are truths that are timeless and cannot be replaced by more "appropriate" value systems. Take honesty, for example. Back in the late 90's to early 2000's, some companies decided that honesty was a good value to adhere to depending on the situation. Anytime honesty got in the way of a good business deal, they decided to forgo honesty in favor of "progress." But as things turned out, the less honest they were, the less they were trusted by their clients and customers which resulted in losses for their company instead of progress. Since then, several business books were published focusing on good values like kindness, trust, and transparency. The authors advised that these were values that every company needed to adhere to and not to do so would be bad for their business. In Proverbs 30:5, the writer tells us that "every word of God proves true." When the Lord says that, "truthful words stand the test of time, but lies are soon exposed," you can bank on it to be absolutely true. Whether lies are exposed immediately or later on, the fact is, they will be exposed eventually. But with truth, there is nothing to expose because the truth can stand before the light as a testament to its certainty and trustworthiness. Since God's Word is true, and it has been proven time and time again, then our lives ought to be founded on it. It is the sure foundation that every person ought to base his or her life on. We should never compromise any of the timeless principles and values which the Lord commands us to live by because these are the very things which make for a well-lived life. Regardless of the times and the changes in our culture and society, God's Word will forever be true. It protects those who live by it and secures one's standing before men and especially before God. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 says, "Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil." Maybe the reason why your life isn't as secure as you know it could be is because of a lack of reliance on God's Word to guide your ways. You may have tried other means to get to the end result you've wanted but you now realize they were dead ends after all. Go back to God's Word as the foundation of your life. Live out its principles and truths once again. I guarantee you that your life will be more secure and protected especially during the difficult days ahead.
